Happy February everyone. Today I am sharing with you a vintage box I found at a yard sale last summer. During the hot days of summer a small town near where I live has a city wide yard sale. Every house, business, parking lot and driveway is filled and overflowing with tables and lots of “stuff” to sell. I mean everything under the sun. Lots of fun objects to choose from and look at. An absolutely fun day.

Moving on, or I will talk about it forever, I would like to share with you this little 6 slotted box. I found it on the ground and I really liked the natural weathering and rustic look. So I picked it up and it was mine for a buck. My kind of price!

Above is a picture of the whole project. You can see how the

box is divided into 6 sections.

The sewing machine is highlighted with WOW embossing

powders. I used both the silver and hop pink.

The center of the box is highlighted using "Singer Sewing

Centers" taken from a vintage Ladies Home Journal, 1952.

The bottom half of the box is above. The chipboard spool

and scissors is also from Basically Bare. Really cute and oh

so easy to use. The scissors are also embossed with WOW

powders.

WOW embossing powders are so colorful and easy to use.

You will really love this product.

at the Beach

As you know I am working with Basically Bare and this week they are out in CA for CHA. The above project is one I sent to them for display.

The wooden frames were provided by Walnut Hollow and the beautiful bird is from Basically Bare.

I first painted the frames with a white paint. The blue was added later with a small amount of water to make it a wash. When the paint was dry, the frames were then sanded to show some of the white and bare wood through. The frames now have a weathered seashore look.

The bird was made using flower petals and here is how I did it.

The flower petals are white and the tail feathers are made from a punched flower. I cut them off and then adhered to the base bird.

You can see how the petals are cut and added to the base.

The beak is gold paint and the eye was added along with the actual white feathers on the tail. The effect of the bird is soft and very appealing.

I hope you enjoyed my bird and frame project. Needless to say, I did.

BEST CHRISTMAS WISHES

I know I have posted the first 2 pages of my newest Christmas book. Well... here is the rest of "the story".

Basically Bare 8x10 multi surface book.

Cover with Christmas tree made with strips of paper that have been ruffled. In between each row is a ball trim.

Pages 1 and 2.

On page 2 is a part of a vintage collar this is the background of the photo mats. These are 2 acrylic pages that are separated in the middle.

Pages 3 and 4.

The 2 split pages (#3) highlight an envelope to put special items in.

Page 4 is beautiful with Santa checking out the toys and the kids looking in. Just lift the page and open up a beautiful mat for photos.

Pages 5 and 6

2 blue photo mat that you can slip your picture under the diagonal red strip. Page 6 is also split, but not acrylic. The 2 pages are envelopes with pic mats on the front and back.

Pages 7 and 8

The back of page 7 (the 2 envelopes) and page 8 featuring a portrait of St. Nick.

Pages 9 and 10

Page 9 is a large open photo mat with each corner allowing for the picture to slip under the corner decoration. Page 10 features 2 smaller photo mats under the little girl holding poinsettias. Really cute. Also if you notice on page 10 (which is made of canvas) I have fringed the edge.

Page 11 and 12

Canvas page 11 has a Victorian photo mat that will allow for a photo to slip into the mat from the left side of the frame. Page 12 is also a family photo mat on the last page of the book.

The back cover and the front cover of the book. A fitting end to the uniqueness and beauty of this book.

Recipe Card Holder

One of my favorite projects from 2011. You will see that I had many. But anyway, using the inspiration of Graphic45 papers I let my creative juices fly. The wooden spoons were bought at a $ dollar store, stained and adhered to a chipboard cut into a circle. The recipe card is attached with a small round magnet. The card comes off and you can easily change recipes using the clothespin to hold them.

The right side of the holder with a vintage picture of mom holding a pie. I think the mother-daughter picture is from an old Better Homes & Garden magazine. I just love the way all the ephemera fit together to tell a story.

Bottom of the card holder - Domestic Goddess. How true that statement was, especially in the 1950's.

Notice the little girl has her MaryJanes on and mom is wearing pumps. Oh how true that is!!!! Yeah man.

Interchangeable recipe card. Just open the clothespin and change it out.

Oh how I wish I had that stove. Sometimes I think the old kitchen equipment is better that what we have now. Of course my microwave would be located right next to it. The picture of the stove came from a reproduction of an old Sears catalog.

By itself it is a nice decoration for the kitchen.

Basically Bare

Hello friends,

today I want to share with you the beginning of a Christmas Time multi-media album. I am so excited about finishing the rest of the pages/album that I just had to share with you the cover and page 1.

The primitive Christmas Tree is made using a ruffle effect and Graphic45 papers. The title is yet to be decided.

Inside page 1

Santa has arrived. Inside the transparancy frame is an old postcard of Santa arriving and being greeted by the family animals. How cute! I will add a few more embellies on the white frame to complete the look.

This last Christmas season 2010 my cousin posted pictures on Facebook of her grandchildren making Christmas cookies. At the same time I had made a new hardback Christmas book using the Unibind system. So I offered to make her a book using her Christmas cookies pictures. Well, here it is, and what fun I had making it using very precious photos that will bring memories for years to come.

WIRE BUST FORM

My second attempt at the wire bust form is below. The papers and colors are so beautiful and dynamic, I just loved them. Actually the paper collection is from Bo Bunny and it is their Christmas Collection. I just fell in love with the vibrant colors and coordination of this line.

Purples and aquas. Gorgeous!

Metal medallions, beads, a little 'Steampunk' iness, handmade flowers, paper curlies, chains and bling.

A white butterfly at the top of the bust hovering over the flower.

The back of the form is highlighted with crystal lavender flower buttons. They are a bit hard to see.

I have to tell you that I absolutely love making these forms. I am going to be trying my hand at a 5 foot form. I am designing the gown now and I want it to be different than others I have seen.

A Proper Gentlemen

Not too long ago, my friend gave me pictures of her grandparents and wanted me to use them in unique layouts. I thought about how I could make the layouts different from all others I had seen. I formulated my idea and headed out to Big Lots to see what they had I could use.

Below is the result. Enjoy!

I used a woven place mat that measures 14x14. It is a rich brown, almost leathery, tightly woven place mat with a decorative edge.

I then chose my paper from the "Proper Gentlemen", Graphic 45 Collection. I now had my inspiration and proceeded to choose and cut out the embellies I would use, add vintage buttons, belt buckle and distress a few of the paper edges.

Above are a few of the hand cut embellies from the G45 papers I used.

Above are the flowers I made with my Cricut, added vintage buttons and tied with floss. The airplane is from G45 Transatlantique Collection.

Above is my finished product. It is loaded with goodies. From left to right is a vintage gold belt buckle, pocket watch, vintage buttons, handmade flowers, butterflies, airplane, hat, tie, shirt, and of course a real picture of a dashing and debonair gentleman (my friend's granddad).

I just love this layout and had such a good time putting it together. Have a great day today and try something new today.

ACRYLIC WATERING CAN

MINI BOOK

In my last post I shared with you the cover of my new acrylic book I designed. It is so cute and turned out very sweet. I used the new Graphic 45 "Once Upon A Springtime" papers and added a few interesting items for creativity. The book is actually 10 pages including both the front cover and back cover. I will be offering and teaching a class featuring this book next month. Watch for updates on dates and times. Should be a lot of fun and there will be a 'one of a kind' product when finished.

I will be posting more photos soon and also I post quite a few photos in the online galleries for everyone to see. The copyright for the above book should be coming soon and then I will be able to do a public post.

Spring is Coming!

Hello, my fellow scrappers. I just thought I would take a moment to say hi and let you in on my latest project. As many of you know in the month of March I teach scrapbooking classes at a retreat in KY at the Barren River Resort. It is located in an absolutely beautiful spot on the lake and the scenery is breathtaking. The air is so crisp and clean that you just naturally inhale all the oxygen you can get. This helps to clear the mind and open the lungs to clean out all the stuffiness of the past winter months. Exhilarating!!
The scrapbook store that hosts this 4-day crop has the retreat 2 times a year, March and November. Last year in November, at the last retreat, some of the ladies asked me to please do an acrylic class this spring. A spring theme, of course. So I set my mind to what would bring the beginning of a new spring and new beginnings of life outside. I came up with doing a book in the shape of a watering can. I had some acrylic left over from another project and made my pattern. The can is about and 8x8 shape and the inside pages are 6x5 straight. Here are a few photos of the cover and inside page.

In the meantime, much to my delight, Graphic 45 came out with their new line called "Once Upon A Springtime". Gorgeous papers and the colors are so beautiful. I used this line of papers for the book and it definitely captured the subject of the book. Flowers, fairies, butterflies are amongst the papers and they are accented with wonderful embellishments. The flowers are made using a water scrunching, cutting technique that I developed. I just love the effect and how it gives life and dimension to the flowers.

Favorite Projects

I think you know that this was my absolute favorite. I am going to make more in different colors.

A beautiful jewelry or "what not" box. This is made with a repurposed wooden cigar box.

Reproduction of my grandmother's 1950's stove. Lots of goooood food came from this stove and her kitchen. Thanks Nana, I'll love you always!

There are so many projects that I really loved making that it is very hard to pick. More than 95% of them are patterns I made myself and will offer for sale at a later date. I am considering a store this year in 2011 and I will keep you abreast of that decision.

During Christmas season my cousin had her grandchildren over to her house for cookie baking and decorating. I noticed she posted some great pictures on Facebook. So, I wrote to her and said I would make her a special book to put her pictures in. Above is my book, already made and ready for the pictures to add. I am showing the cover and a close up of santa holding cookies, candy sticks and gingerbread. So cute! I can't wait for the pics to come so I can crop them and add them to each page.

The book is from Unibond and I just love how it turned out. Happy scrapping and try something new today.

I Survived Christmas ...

now onto New Years.

Like many of you Christmas was very hectic. Making goodies, wrapping many, many presents, cleaning the house, running last minute errands and greeting overnight guests. Whew, can I interest anyone in the Bahamas right now? Of course thrown into all this mess was the weather. Nashville got its first white Christmas in 17 years. It really was beautiful, and very treacherous at the same time. Too cold to go out and make a snowman. Can you believe that?

We really enjoyed our time with family and friends and now reality is back on track.

Diet (eating the right foods) is my main priority. After loosing 55 lbs. I am NOT gaining any of it back! Actually I feel great when I eat right so I am looking forward to being on my plan.

I just thought I would share with you a few things from my heart and let you know that 2011 will be a great Crafty Year. I can just feel it! So rest up, and get ready cause when I return in the new year we are going to be going on a fabulous journey together.

Below is my latest project made from a vintage book. I was antiquing at a local store and she had this book for almost nothing. The insides were in bad shape and it was the perfect title for what I wanted to make.

For a while I have been in the mood to make a mini baby album to be given as a gift to new parents. I wanted it to hold those first and most precious pictures of the baby.

How I made the album was to take out the pages of the book, they were falling out anyway. I then put pink netting on the bottom. My next move was to line the interior and add accordion-like sides so the book could be opened for the album to be inserted. I then made the mini album and it fit perfectly inside.

Here are the photos of the project:

The colors on the cover are carried out throughout the mini album.

The handles I made with beads and stiff wire.

Inside of book/purse. The mini fits so snugly.

The sides are accordion so it will be easy to insert the album or anything you choose.

As you can see by the title, the Lime Light Charitable Design Team (of which I am a card-carrying member) is having a blog hop this Friday at 8PM. Steampunk Classic Form/Corset

This past November I attended the retreat at the Barron River Resort in Glasgow, KY. I was a staff member teaching classes and helping with all the events. What fun it was, I must say. We had 125 ladies and 1 man in attendance. You ask, what man would come to a retreat. Well, it was Ken of Unibind products. Fun, fun, and more fun. He fit right in and added a certain degree of hysterical-arity. Interesting word just like Ken. A hoot and so much fun. If anyone has a crop and wants info about the Unibind products, you have to invite Ken. He is interesting and he gives away great gifts and teaches the use of the product. We were so glad he was able to stay for 3 days. We will be having another retreat in March and I hope he attends then also.

Now to the photographs above. During the retreat I started a project I had been dreaming of for months and finally put it together. I went to lots of tag and yard sales all summer long collecting the old jewelery and other embellishments used. Quite eclectic. It took me about 12 hours total to make the form/corset and I just love how it turned out. I used Graphic45 papers, PK Glitz double sided adhesive sheets, G&G metal form and lots of ingenuity. The dark looking lace at the waist is made of metal. There are trims, gears, wings, clock fixtures, keys and hand designed flowers and paper curly-q's.

My Kitchen Stove From The 50's

Stove From The 50's

Hi all my crafty friends. Just thought I would take a minute and share a project with you that was sooo much fun. I had an idea that I wanted to make a 50's era looking stove and came up with this pattern. As you can see from the top photo I made each piece as I went along. The pattern is from a memory I had of my grandmother's stove and let me tell you, some mighty good cooking came from that stove.

The actual stove I made is about 8" x 10". A nice size for display purposes. The stove contains a clock, dials, handles, metal grid, hot plates, drawers, and an oven with window. The pots, canisters and hanging towels are from stickers - Cookbookin'. It helps to add a certain amount of authenticity to the project.

Victorian Boot

Last November, when I was at retreat, I had this wild idea. I want to make a Victorian era boot. I knew I wanted it to be my own design from scratch and I wanted to use Graphic 45 papers. At the top of this post is my original design. You can see I had a problem with the toe. First I wanted it rounded, then squared. I settled for the squared. I liked the look much better.

The pieces/pattern was easy to cut out. I had ideas how to put it together but didn't know exactly how until I actually tried. Follow along with the photos and you can see how I did each section of the boot.

I cannot say this was an easy project. It was not. I wanted finished edges and an authentic look. I think I achieved that.

STEAMPUNK DEBUTANTE

As many of you know I am a Graphic45 "follower and user". I love every line and get so excited when I make a g-45 project. Here is my latest.

A friend of mine gave me cigar boxes she got from her step-father. They are black, Cervantes and all wood. Love these boxes! What I did was cover the box and decoupage'd it for some glisten. I then distressed it and added the cover elements. The flowers are 3-d. It is hard to see but the flowers are built on each other. What I did was this. I cut out each flower, 2 each. One I left as is and the other I followed some of the flower lines, inside, and cut them, without cutting it out. When I finished I wet them and scrunched. I let them dry a few minutes then very carefully I unscrunched them. This gave me the dimension I wanted. I then put them each on their matching flower and let them dry. When dry I lifted each cut and it opened up the flower. Very nice look.

The inside of the box has an envelope to put special "things" and on the bottom inside I had a 4 squared wooden holder. I painted it black and glued it on. If I were to use this myself, I would not have glued it, but since this is for display at a LSS I went ahead and fixed it.

Desk Organizer

Kaisercraft has a desk organizer that will hold gobs of crafty products. Paper, embellies, laces/ribbons, buttons or really anything you can think to put in all the slots and cubbies. I thoroughly enjoyed making this organizer and cannot wait to use it. On the sides and front drawers I used Zva flourishes and butterflies. So cute and so easy to design as you put them on. I just love how it all turned out and would suggest this as a great Christmas gift. The kit is easy enough for you to make it your own design and decorate it to your taste.

Picture This!!

The above pictures are kits on canvas. I made these for Scrapbook Village in KY. They are so incredibly easy to put together and add pictures. I had never done a kit before and was asked to do these 2 for demo purposes. I followed the directions and it was just so nice to have everything right at my fingertips.

I am not usually a kit person and I must say that these were a pleasure to make.

I will be adding to my blog on a more regular basis. I have so many project I have worked on and am anxious to share them with you.

Amish Farm

Scottsville, KY

Today was my annual 'get everything I need for winter' from my favorite Amish Farm. I usually go once a week all spring and summer long to get my fresh produce and fruit. I just love this place. So today I decided to capture a picture of the farm itself and if you look in the distance at the farm house you will see smoke coming out of the chimney. I also went to the 'Jam House', and the dry goods store. They were fully stocked and the wonderful smells are worth the trip.

This one of the most relaxing and enjoyable trips I make each week and I have learned to talk to the people and created a little relationship with them. They also recognize me when I enter. That is so nice.

Lately, also, I have been reading a lot of books on Amish life, as seen through the eyes of Beverly Lewis. I just love her books and she is spot on and truthful.

Summer CanCan

This summer I had the pleasure of teaching my youngest daughter, Kristeen how to can. We not only worked hard, we had fun together. We are both concerned with giving our families the best of fruits and vegetables with no sugar and no preservatives. We are going all organic and natural. Canning is the way to do it.

The vegetables we bought from the Amish farmers at a very low price. The rest was up to us.

The recipe for homemade spaghetti sauce was my mothers'. Just 1 bushel of medium tomatoes go a long way and the taste is exquisite. I have always missed those times of canning with mom and now I can teach my daughters to can and pass on my knowledge to them. I know someday they will in turn pass it on again.

It's Canning Time

As many of you know I was in Florida last week canning fruit and vegetables with my daughter, Kristeen. Here is the 'fruits' of our labor. The temp outside was into the 100's and the temp inside was well into the 80's. Needless to say we were hot, sweaty and by night very tired.

The first thing we tackled were all the tomatoes. What you see above is mine. Kris had 10 more quarts. So total we got 20 quarts from 4 bushels of tomatoes we bought from the Amish for 8.00 per box. Fabulous!!

Our 2nd project was the corn. We purchased 2 overflowing bushels of fresh corn on the cob from the Amish at 15.00 per bushel. We harvested 21 quarts from the 2 bushels. Can you believe it!!!!!

Our final project was 2 bushels of fresh peaches. We made our own simple syrup from fruit pectin. No sugar. We each got 15 quarts per bushel. So we ended up canning 30 quarts of peaches.

We had fun working together.

Our next plan is to both try our hand at applesauce. Remember our food has no preservatives or sugar. We have gone completely natural and we are healthier for it!

Today I am making my spaghetti sauce. I got 2 bushels more of tomatoes and I just finished putting it in the roaster to cook down and I will can it later today. Bill is out shucking all the corn. We are going to freeze our corn. We cut it off the cobs and I put 2 cups in bags for the freezer.

Well, folks, I think that is enough for today. Whew, I am tired already, but a good and satisfying tired. Tomorrow is church and I will be glad for the day of rest.

Travel - Suitcase Shaped Mini Album Class

Travel Book - Suitcase Shaped Book Class

On Saturday, July 24th, I held my travel book class at Scrapbook Village in KY. We had a great group and so much fun. The ladies really enjoyed making their vacation treasure and will finish each page on their own. Hopefully at the time of retreat in November I will be able to see their finished product.

We took our time making the cover and the ladies did so well. It is so satisfying to watch them and lead them through the process of creating and building their book for those precious memories. Everyone has their own special and unique take on a page, book or other project they are making. It is fun to see how they take and add their own personality and sense of design.

We had so much fun together, lots of laughs and lots of talk.

Below I am going to be offering a class on "Christmas Cookies". We will be making a jar book with our favorite recipes and using the Cookbookin' line of papers. I must say right out, that Cookbookin' is my favorite line and I am always looking for ways to showcase the line. Love it!!!

June - Yard Sale 2010

Remember 2 weeks ago I mentioned that I was in the process of getting ready for our annual yard sale. Well here are a few photos of us getting ready. Let me tell you, it was sooooooo hot! 98 to 100 degrees every day. The weather was so oppressively hot and the humidity was just as bad. But anyways, we got through it. We are going to try to have our last one at the end of September. I am sure the weather will be much better and more buyer friendly.

My 3 grandgirls folded all the clothes and arranged them for us.

Dennis helped carry "stuff" for us and get it all arranged. Thanks!

Ben, my hunky grandson and muscles helped get all you see arranged nicely and he worked until he got so tired he sat and helped. Wow, the stuff he carried and threw out for us.

Part of the Barbie collection Kathi and I bought to sell on ebay. We have sold many, many dolls and we have all this to go. See the boxes on the left, there is more in there.

What is better than a cup of tea and a warm cookie? Yummy! This cute page is so fun. The teapot is just like the one on the Cookbookin' papers and it opens. The teapot turned out so sweet.

Tags and teapot. The two tags at the top of the page can be used for a special tea recipe or journaling. The teapot opens up and allows for photos on each page, journaling or a favorite recipe.

Cookies for you! Page 3 gives you the opportunity to continue with special tea time recipes from page 2. The 3 tags are perfect for smaller photos and the white journaling strip on the left gives plenty of space to add your thoughts.

Christmas Cookies - "Tis" The Season

I will be bringing to you 2-3 pages of the jar book above featuring Cookbookin' papers over the next few days. This mini album was such a joy to make and if you choose to make one, you will love yours too. These albums make very special gifts for the "season" and will definitely be a one-of-a-kind gift.

The cover features a handmade tag with eyelets, ribbon, Cricut words - Christmas and cookies. The o's in the word cookies are hard candy stickers. I also used vintage lace under the tag.

Inside pages 1 & 2

Page 1 - features more vintage lace and pull tags. The first large pull tag is pulled out using 'family favorites' at the top of the tag. In the lace pocket are 2 more tags that can be used for journaling and/or recipes. Next to the lace pocket are lines already on the paper to be used for anything you would like.

A pull tag with a sugar cookie recipe on it. Of course you can put whatever recipe on it you want. When the tag is taken out there are more lines for recipes or a photo. COOKBOOKIN' PAPERS

Recipe Scrapbooking Papers

A few years ago I discovered a line of papers in my favorite scrapbooking store, Scrapbook Village in Glasgow, KY. The papers are made for Gooseberry Patch and they are called Cookbookin' Recipe Scrapbook Kits. Now, since that time it has been rumored that Cookbookin' bought back their rights and separated from Gooseberry Patch. I do not know if that is true, but if it is or isn't I just fell in love with this line of papers and have had fun with them ever since. I wanted to make a mini book and I came up with a jar book. The book that I designed is in the shape of a jar with white folded paper bags in the inside. The bags are attached by sewing them into the fold. The pages will hold, very successfully, all the papers, recipe cards and ephemera you can add.

Howdy folks,
Well it has been about 3 weeks since my last entry. Unfortunately I have been without the internet for that period of time. We live in Nashville, TN and we have been without a land line phone and internet since the 5th of May. It has been awful. I am so behind with everything it will take me a while to catch up. Classic Me

MY ALL AMERICAN GIRLS WITH THEIR AMERICAN GIRLS

A sweet layout with lots of little girl sugar. When we get together we have a total of 6 "very cute" little girls. There is always lots of giggling and laughter. It is just amazing how they all play together and have such a good time. Let me introduce them to you: L-R Becca Ann, RaeRae, Sarah, Ellie, Anna and Hannah. The 2 youngest are only 3 months apart in age.

I used the Sophie Collection papers by Bo Bunny. They are just so cute and little girlish I couldn't resist. On one of the sheets I cut the flowers out, layering them and adding my fav adhesive, Helmar.

The 3-D effect is defined so easily with the use of zapdots and scrap dots for the butterflies.

Pearls were added to the layout in the corners, lettering and the butterflies, so cute. I am absolutely thrilled with the outcome.

I used my Cricut to make the butterflies and just added bling and curved them with my rounder (paintbrush handle). I will do a short tutorial on how to make these and the flowers. Very easy technique. Try it sometime, you will love how it will add to all of your projects.

Last Monday, I had 6 energetic visitors. Lots of giggling, playing and talking, wow I must say! These precious little people are both grand-girls and friends. They are all mine and they all call me Nana. Just loved it! The mothers were upstairs in my scraproom, sewing and scrapping and the girls were down stairs watching videos, playing Barbies and PlayStation. We had the best time. All the girls brought their American Girl Dolls and they had so much fun. We couldn't resist taking pictures of the event. I also scrapped the photos and I will share them with you later.

BABY SANDRA

Gosh, how did time slip by so fast. The above picture was taken of me when I was about 4 months old. Now some years later I think it would be nice to start over, kind of!

The flowers in the left hand corner were made by me. I cut material in circles, heated the edges with a flame, let them curl and then stacked them with a pretty brad in the center. The bling is by Prima, just love the mixture of pearls and a small flower every so often. As always, I used my favorite Helmar Adhesives. Love that product and have used for a while now. BTW-the flowers are popped out so much better when you use the zapdots. They are 3D Double Sided. I used 2 on each other and popped it right out. Cool!

If you look to the right of the layout you will see a little girl holding a dolly. So sweet and it is as if she is watching over me. The pink doily was made by Basic Grey. Love it!

I just enjoyed creating this layout and will be doing more in the future. My mom gave me a number of photos and I will be using them for my layouts and other projects.

A few months ago I was surfing the internet and came across a display. The person had taken an old suitcase and opened it up and made shelves inside. She had used it to display her collection of "Snowbabies". It did look cute.

Above is my take on it. I saw this old blue suitcase, the inside was in good shape and I knew I wanted to give it a try. My husband then put up a large shelving unit for me and I placed the suitcase on it. I just love how it turned out.

On the left is a layout of my mother sitting on the family car. I believe she was 16 at the time. I used the Graphic45 papers to bring out the car parts of her photo. I just love it. Mom was so pretty and quite a "dish".

On the right is a shadow box of my Great-Grandmother Griffin. I found an old wooden file drawer and decorated it. That was so much fun and I think the way it turned out fits right into the time period I am creating.

Graphic45 has given me another dimension for scrapping all the older photos my mom has given me. Love working with it, try it!
Everything is held together, so tightly, with my Helmar adhesives. I used the adhesive spray, craft glue, scrap dots and the tape runner. Love, love it!

At The Beach - On The Boardwalk

I came across the photo of my grandparents when I visited my mom a few weeks ago. They were visiting New Jersey and had their picture taken while they were at the beach. On the back of the photo my grandfather wrote that they were at Wildwood Beach, NJ and the year was 1930. I thought it was so funny to see them both dressed so nicely for the beach. My mom informed me that they had just stopped by to see the ocean and enjoy the beautiful weather.

The Graphic45 papers "On the Boardwalk" captures the feeling and it was fun to build this book and give the photo new life.

I must tell you about the book cover and back. I was at an antique store and while browsing around I happen to notice a book that had been tossed in the garbage basket. It was this book, all apart, in pieces. I asked the owner if the book was for sale and if I could buy it. She said just take it! I did! I picked up the book, the size was perfect for the project and it was perfectly distressed by natural time and elements. I brought it right home and thought about what picture I would put in it and -whallah - this book was born. I absolutely love how it turned out and it will be a special keepsake for a very long time.

I must also tell you that I used Helmar to adhere every page together. The spray adhesive is the "bomb"! I love it! I also used the runner and a few zap dots. Try it, you'll love it too.

ROADSTER

As you can see in the center of the pictures above is a beautiful hand made roadster. It was lovingly made by my dad. He was quite a wood crafter extrodinaire. Excellent would not express the perfection with which he made his beautiful pieces. Dad loved to make the old cars and finish them off so exquisitely. I was displaying some of my books and I thought it would fit into this old cabinet very nicely.

PASSPORT DREAMS

JUST A LITTLE PASSPORT DREAMING

Using Passport Papers by Reminisce I did a little dreaming over the weekend. I just love the colors and variety of destinations to choose from. This has to be one of the best travel lines I have seen in a long time. Kudos Reminisce!

Have you ever woken up on a dreary morning and thought, "What am I doing here?". Well, I have! Thus the beginning of my passport book. In this book you will discover 10 pages chucked full of interesting and beautiful places to visit and explore.

Enjoy reading each page and /or country and just imagine what it would be like to meet the locals, drift into quaint little shops, and taste some of the incredible foods from that country.
AND
of course I used Helmar adhesives to keep it all together. I used lots of the tape runner, spray adhesive and a few scrap dots. Love this product, please give it a try. You'll will not regret it!

SPRING BASKET

Butterflies, pleated paper, paper bow, leaves, origami flowers, this little

basket has it all.

A few months ago as I was surfing through a few blogs, I saw a little Christmas basket something like this one. Mine is different and has quite a few different elements to it. I love the origami flowers and they are so easy to make. On a previous entry, I gave the directions on how to make these flowers. Check it out. In the basket is shredded paper, stick pins, and leaves that are highlighted with glitter from PK Glitz. I absolutely love their product and it is so easy and fun to use. The little curly cues are made from the same paper, just wet it, and pencil wrap it. This sweet little display is so easy to make and so much fun at the same time.
You all know that my fav adhesive is from Helmar. Gosh that is the greatest "stuff"! It is so easy to use. On this project I used the adhesive runner, zapdots, spray adhesive and of course my all time fav, liquid scrap dots.

UPSTATE NEW YORK

The above layout makes me sooo homesick for upstate New York. One of the most beautiful parts of the country. Beautiful rolling green hills, fragrant trees, tumbling brooks and many farms. As you can see by the photo you feel like you want to climb into the picture and just lay in the green grass and smell the air.

I used Graphics 45 papers, Prima flowers and Prima flourishes. I will be going back this coming summer. I must say, I am ready to go.

Have you ever taken a picture that years afterwards you are sooooo glad you did. Well, that is how my youngest daughter feels about the above photos. She took these pictures when, at that time, her youngest child had the chicken pox. It is kind of hard to see but he is so covered with the pox. They are everywhere, even in his ears and nose. It was rough for a while since he did not talk yet and he wasn't quite a year old yet. Jake just took it in stride and now you would never know he had them, no scars. CHRISTMAS TIME

This is one of my overall favs! As you can tell I just love Graphics 45 papers. My version of Christmas is above. The old Santa looks so great highlighted with old vintage lace. The papers are 4 layers and the stamp paper was used in one corner. At the top of the right hand corner is an old clock face with holly and berries highlighting it. In the left corner is more lace and an old handheld trumpet with holly on it also.

I just loved making this layout. The Graphics 45 papers are so easy to use w/o using photos. All of your inspiration can come from the prints itself.

Challenge for Whimsical Scraps & Bugs

My last challenge for Whimiscal Scraps & Bugs was to create a "white on white" card. I did just that. I used white Bazzill paper with a wreath made from Prima white flowers. Two posts ago I gave a quick tutorial on how to make these flowers. Check it out!

The wreath was then glossed over with Crystal Stickles and tied with a white organza ribbon. I must say the effect is truly simple and beautiful. The word Christmas was cut out on the Cricut from a glittery paper.

The wire form I used was purchased at JoAnn's. I had been looking for one for a while and came across this one by accident.

I thoroughly love the Graphics 45 papers. The prints and choices from the different groupings are so well thought out and crafted. A couple months ago when I first saw the Graphics 45 Line at Scrapbook Village I knew I had to have it all. Over time I have collected it and now I am starting to use it. I am so careful how I use it because I like it so much and don't want to waste it. I hope you enjoy looking at my photos of this project and give it a try. I am going to keep this dress and put it on my permanent display shelf.

SEI Velvet Holiday Collection

A beautiful poinsettia made from the Velvet Assortment, Holiday Collection by SEI. Very easy to work with and the colors are so rich and real. The poinsettia is made from an easy pattern that I will post later. Also the directions for the origami white flower in the center will be posted at the same time.

You will need.....

After cutting out the green leaves and the red flower petals, bear down with the ball end of your rub on tool. This makes an indentation that resembles veins for each leaf.

If you choose to add Stickles, along the vein lines, now is a good time. Just let dry thoroughly before assembling flower.

Start assembling the red flower on top of the green leaves.

Adhere the white flower petals to the smaller round disk.

Adhere white flower to red poinsettia.

The poinsettia looks so beautiful when it is adhered to a present. I thoroughly enjoyed making this flower. I am pleased that I had this opportunity to bring this to you. Happy scrappin' and try something new today.

PATTERNS

Below is the poinsettia that I made using this flower method. The information below is from a website on the Imaginisce blog.

Here's step-by-step instructions.

Flower Materials needed:

- Card Stock
- Craft Knife
- Craft Adhesive
- Clothes Pins

Instructions:

1: [Pic I] Cut five squares from your card stock measuring 100 mm x100 mm. NOTE: Each 100 mm x 100 mm square makes one of the five petals needed to complete a flower.

2: [Pic II] Place one sheet of paper with the main pattern you want on the outside of the flower facing downwards. Fold the bottom corner up to the top to make a triangle.

3: [Pic III] Bring the side points up to the top point so that it makes a diamond.

4: [Pic IV] Fold the top layers back so the the edges run vertical with the centre, now line up with the corner sides of the square underneath. If you have folded it correctly you should have 2 horizontal edges, as shown.

5: [Pic V] Open up each of the newly formed triangles and fold down onto themselves so that the old corner fold line is now in the centre of a kite shaped top layer.

6: [Pic VI] Fold the points of the kites inwards so that the corners align with the square underneath.

7: [Piv VII] Fold the kites in half again, over existing creases. Once folded, glue the 2 outside faces together and pin together with a clothes peg until the glue is dry.

8: [Pic VIII] Your finished petal should look like image shown. Repeat steps for all 5 sheets of paper and glue each petal together to form your flower.

NOTE: Repeat origami flower as many times as needed to assemble your flower.

Using Flowers to make a Wreath

A few months ago I was given a project to do and I needed to use as much of the items left from the last class I gave. Well, I did it. I made a wreath and a tree out of white flowers from the last project. Below you will find exactly how to do it. It does not take much to make these beautiful wreaths and/or tree. On the tree I added green flowers also to add to the beauty. Take your time and look at each photo, try it. It is really fun!

Items needed.

I taught a class on how to make these. Above the wreath is being put together.

Cutting the flowers. Cut them in half then take off the petals.

Start stacking the petals, one on the other. Just build on each row.

When the wreath is all together, use crystal Stickles to add shimmer and beauty. Paint it on with a paint brush.

This is a simple and beautiful project. It can be accomplished within 2 hours and look like you spent much longer on it. Give it a try. Happy scrappin'.

PRINCESS Cover for 12x12 Scrapbook Album

PRINCESS Paper by Imaginisce

For a while I have been wanting to make the cover for a 12x12 album that was special for a princess. Below you will find my album cover. The photos will show you how to make your castle and mount it on your album. The castle design is my own design. I wanted 5 towers and a wall around the perimeter. My final design is all original and shows the amount of detail needed for a cover. Enjoy looking at the photos.

Above is the cover on blue paper with a few clouds in the background.

I chose a white 12x12 album made by Bazzill for the album. White is a great color because it will not conflict with your chosen colors and also looks so clean.

The blue paper was decoupage'd on the cover.

The first spire. You need to work from the back spire to the front. Building on each. This helps to create depth.

The scallops were cut on my Cricut and added individually. They were in sets of 4 scallops each which worked out well to allow me to customize and cut as needed.

Take your time as you glue on the scallops (roofing). Trim when all is dried creating an exact curvature.

All the base elements are completed and now the fun part comes. Decorating. Let your imagination run wild. Imagination - Imaginisce. They go together, that is one reason I chose this line of papers. They are so girlie, pink and the patterns are complimentary to each other.

The album finished from the side.

Add lots of bling, pearls and rub-ons. Think about what you would like your castle to look like. Then just "do it".

MOM

A one of a kind card made especially for MOM using the new Graphics 45 paper line. Absolutely love working with this paper and all its designs. The paper I used is from the Domestic Goddess line. You will find many vintage patterns with this paper and the accessories are equal to the beauty of each line.

The card itself was made for a challenge by Whimsical Scraps & Bugs. We were given the task to make a card, using a photo of a woman with balloons. If you look closely at my card, on the cover upper right you will see the pic. The lady is laughing and holding some balloons. I incorporated the photo right into my card. I liked that idea. The card is rather retro and looks like it is from the '40's. Love this paper! Oops, I already said that.

The above acrylic book is very sweet and would be the perfect place for those princess photos. Lots of pinks, greens,soft blue and even some brown. The paper, by Imaginisce, is the perfect compliment to this beautiful book.

I must say I thoroughly enjoyed making this book. Acrylics are definitely the way to show off beautiful paper, hand painting and rub-ons. Take your time to look at this book and let me know if you have any questions.

Challenge #1 for Whimsical Scraps & Bugs

The above layout I made for the first challenge from Whimsical Scraps & Bugs. The challenge was to use orange, purple & black colors. 2 stars from any of our Cricut cartridges and 1 stamp. That is exactly what I did. The orange paper was scalloped on the side. The middle of the paper was spritzed with water and then opened up. The wetness of the paper was perfect and I could easily roll, rip and tear it. The page was then folded back to create an open window. Inside I highlighted the cute photo with plain purple and black paper. The black flowers are iron on appliques and they fit in just nicely. The center of the flowers have added orange pearls.

I love this layout and it was a joy to create. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

METALLIC - ACRYLIC BOOK

I finished the metallic/acrylic book. It is not titled and I thought I would leave that for the person that purchases the book. It will also give them plenty of places to use pictures and add any special ephemera that will add to their subject. The book turned out better than I expected. I was wondering how to bring it together, but as you can see, as the pages were built on each other, that was not a problem.

The book has a very tailored look and to go along with its uniqueness. I am so pleased that I tried this method and will do it again sometime.

2nd Installment of the Acrylic/Metal Book

I redid the cover of the acrylic/metal book. For some reason I was just not happy with the way the cover looked with the handmade flower. So, after studying it for a while I thought there was not enough color to help bring out the metal mesh flower. I then cut a flower out of pink paper, from Basic Grey, and put that behind the flower. And there it was, now I can see the flower and enjoy the look more.

As you look through the book to the next set of pages, you will see that I added 2 diagonal metal lines. On top of the metal I used rub ons just to soften the look. Now we are building our acrylic look.

On pages 2&3 you will see the mats that were added. On page 1 this can easily be a journaling page, or add a photo in the box and journal on the pink sides. Either will work. The flower on page 3 is a booklet that opens to show more room for photos.

Plenty of space for large photos.

Same on page 4. I mirrored the images/booklets.

The flowers are raised to give dimension.

The book is really starting to take shape. I was wondering if I would really like it. I do! I didn't know if I would go for the metal and acrylic look. I think on the cover the mesh used behind it adds to the uniqueness of the book. You will not see another one like this. I am building pages 5 & 6 and will post them in a few days. FAMILY Distressed Paper-Bag Album For RETREAT

I know you think you have seen this album before. Yes and No! The entry previously done was the prototype for this actual one. That means that the above album is the album I am using for a class for retreat in November. There are some different things on each page and of course the paper is different. I will be giving a class for 15 and we will be making the above album. I will now go into the process of making up all the kits myself. Should be a lot of fun and teaching is definitely my "thing". I like to pass on anything that I can to others.
