Acrylic Scrapbook

Christmas is very close to my heart, as you probably know by now. I just couldn't resist this one. I found a metal bow at Hobby Lobby that I just loved. Here it is! I added to it the beautiful ribbon. That was a chore getting it inside the metal scroll work, but I did. The effect is beautiful. Looks like it has always been there. Each page was then built on the next. One of the techniques used is a personal favorite of mine. It is previous page framing.

Previous Page Framing: When the previous page is finished and you flip the acrylic to begin the next page. Look at your placement of the mat. Using the mat you are looking at through the acrylic measure and come in about a 1/4" all the way around and cut your paper. When placing the mat and using the previous page mat as a guide, center it and adhere. This will give you the effect of double matting. Very beautiful and it saves paper!

I then used lots of rubons that are visible from both sides and ribbons cut long softening the effect.

I must say this album was pleasure for me. I was at a retreat at the Barron River Resort in Kentucky when I built it. The weekend was so much fun. Those ladies sure know how to have a good time and make new friends. That is what scrapbooking is to me, passing on tips, techniques, inspiration and making lots of friends.

Acrylic Fall Album

FALLING LEAVES - PUMPKINS - APPLES

You can almost smell the pumpkin pie baking in the oven. The aroma of spices and the warmth of family and friends. Above is an acrylic pumpkin shaped book. It is about 8" wide and 7" high. I cut it out on the scroll saw and painted the edges to resemble a pumpkin. The pumpkin on the cover is made of wood and very adds a unique 3-D effect. The leaves on the front cover, under the pumpkin, are silk and very colorful.

I used mostly Bo Bunny papers and Bazzill solids. The book is chocked full of pumpkins, sunflowers, fall flowers, fall leaves, acorns and orange raffia.

This book was sheer pleasure to make. I really enjoyed bringing it all together. I do sell the plain acrylic pumpkin shaped albums. If you should want one just email me and let me know. I will be glad to work with you on your album.

ACRYLIC SCRAPBOOK

Shape Of Flower

A sweet flower book in the shape of a flower, just for your own "flower". The above book was created for want 2 scrap. The book came in the shape of a flower and I took it from there. Each page has a large frame for photos and there is lots of room for journaling. I used a mixture of circles and squares for interest and mixed in lace, flower trims and eyelash trim.

This project turned out real cute and is just perfect for girl photos and special memories.

SCRAPBOOKING WEEKEND - WAHOOOO!!!

Two to three times a year a group of us (6-8) get together for a scrapbooking weekend on Thursday to Sunday. 4 days without kids or husbands. Need I say more? A needed break from our everyday lives. In our busy days we need a break just to relax and recoup. By Sunday night we are all ready to get back to our lives with a renewed spirit.

We had so much fun just laughing, talking, eating our favorites, and just being together with friends. As you can see in the above photos we brought it all. I already had all of my "scrap crap" there, since it was at my house (studio). I just love to welcome everyone, watch them settle in and start to have a great time. We do get a lot done. Some make mini books, acrylic books, pages and etc. We watch some tv, not much, mostly mindless shows.

So you can see having fun is the first order of business. Enjoy, and try this with a group of friends. Fun will be had by all.

SNOW

Chipboard Album

The word snow is very appropriate today, being that the World Series game was snowed out. Philadelphia had 3 inches of snow on Tuesday! Wow! Who "wodda" thought? I am not a fan of either team, just thought it was cool to have snow already.

The above snowflake album was another I made for Want 2 Scrap. The snowflake on the cover I painted white, covered in glue and then glittered and glittered some more. I mixed in a little blue glitter to go with my paper of choice. The effect is beautiful and very crystal like. The paper chosen is by Heidi Grace Designs and is both iridescent and flocked. The album has lots of room for winter photos and journaling. SEASON'S GREETINGS

Acrylic Book for the

Prima Build-A-Book Contest

Above you will see the acrylic book that I will be entering into the Prima Build-A-Book contest. There is a plethora of styles to choose from at Prima. I chose the most Victorian ones. I put 2 designs together. The cover is done by mounting a crystal Christmas Tree ornament. There is a backing on it for color and the book page itself is a gorgeous Victorian cut. The other pages have a complementary Victorian edging on each of them. Just a beautiful book and I thoroughly enjoyed making this book.

Note: Only Prima Build-A-Book clear albums are allowed for this contest. Each book will be judged on creative use of art mediums/product on the BAB's clear surface, design composition, craftsmanship, and originality of project.

TRICK 'R TREAT

smell my feet - give me something good to eat!

How cute is that! A chipboard album just made for this time of year. It about 8x8 and looks like a shopping bag. I dirtied it up with ink and decorated from there. The bag is part of a kit you can get from Want 2 Scrap. It is all inclusive. You will enjoy capturing your little trick or treaters and putting their photos in this album. A treasure to keep. I experimented with ghosts, made from vellum, and lots of black, purple and orange.
