OLD BEAUTY
Two summers ago I pilgrimaged back home to upstate New York. The area is known as The Finger Lake Region. Well, I was in an architectural mood. For years I had enjoyed looking at the proud older homes and churches. I found some I really liked and took photos of them. I am sharing them with you today.
Just picture yourself on a summer day, temperature in the high 70's, low 80's, low humidity and just a sweet aroma in the air. Oh, I am so there. I took a drive around the back roads, windows down, letting my hair blow and snapping pictures of the countryside and some of my favorite houses and churches. The Victorian type of architecture is a special look and is well known in this part of the country. Usually built around the turn of the century into the beginning of the 1900's. These beauties have been lovingly restored to their previous glory and elegance.
The wine country of Keuka, Waneta and Seneca Lakes are known for these types of houses and large buildings. Growing up I never noticed these as I do now. I just took them for granted, but now they are part of the reason for "coming home" to that part of New York State.
Just thought I would share them with you and hope you enjoy them as I do. I will be posting pictures of the countryside, Amish schoolhouses and farms. Oh, I am so homesick now.
Have a great day and happy scrappin'.

Lovely pics. Well, I've never lived in a place like that but have dreamed that one day I will. I like the small town feel that those pics send. You made me homesick for you. Here's to getting back soon.
