VALENTINE - LOVE -
With Valentine's Day approaching fast, I thought I would give you more ideas to make your own book, card or special memento for your "love". The item you make with special photos you pick are precious. I have made this tag book that measures 4x6. The template is very simple. I think the only difference I would make is that I would have a page on each side. On the book you see the page is only on the bottom facing. I did not do the top of the flip.
Have fun and make it special.

" HEART'S A FLUTTER"

Believe it or not, Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Now is the time to start building your special book for your "love". There are oh so many ways to express how much that person means to you. I created a book that is all black, white and beautiful accents of red. The red is so deep and rich it definitely captures your feelings. Don't be afraid to let yourself go and just create. The book above was made to sell on ebay. I had been asked to make a book for a special design team and this was my creation. They loved it!

Valentine's Day is the only day of the year you can get away with combining color that ordinarily would not be mixed. Bright pinks, purples, reds and black. These are as eye catching as you can make your book. Just let it rip.

This year I am going to also try a acrylic 8x8" heart. I think also I will be doing more tag books and paper bag albums. I like to give a good choice for the buyer.

Have fun and give it a try.

TWIN BABY BOYS

This is a beautiful altered lunchbox tin for twin baby boys. There is enough room for journaling and photos of each child. This set consists of the altered lunchbox tin, double photo frame (hand painted and decorated), 10 double sided cards = 20 sides for photos and journaling, and a sweet 6x6 book with plenty of room for all the firsts and a letter from Mom and Dad.

This is a wonderful remembrance for twin boys. Their first year will be detailed for them to see as they grow older.

I had a wonderful time creating this album. I have also done one for girls. The difference, of course, is that everything is pink. Very sweet and very girl.

Thanks,

Sandra

The "LOVES" Of My Life

Whenever I think of love, want love or need love my grandchildren always come to mind. Now that we are living so close to them, it is truly a blessing that we enjoy every day. They range in ages from Ben 16, Andy 15, Caleb 12, Beka 7, Sarah 6, Jacob 5, Rachael 3 and Hannah 13 mo.

We have the whole spectrum of ages, likes and dislikes. They are so much fun, and bring to us a constant change of everyday life.

2008 is just around the corner and we are looking forward to a great year. Our son in law will be coming home from the Middle East and we thank the Lord everyday for his safety and the safety of the other military men, women and families. We have learned in the past year that it is not only the soldier who goes to war, but the whole family. The family battlefield here at home presents a different type of challenge and is just as important as the one deployed abroad. We pray for all the military families and ask for safety for them all.

Until next time,

Sandra

Hand-Painting on Acrylic

A most unique and very personal way to add depth and beauty to your acrylic album. Don't be afraid to just let it go and freehand your painting. You can also use stencils and/or patterns. Experiment and do what you feel. If you make a mistake, just use the alcohol to take it off and start over. Remember: "THERE ARE NO MISTAKES IN SCRAPBOOKING". This a very personal medium for your personal expression. Just like in quilting, charm and imperfectness add to the love and time you personally put into the project.

Here are a few quick and easy techniques.

A Brushing Effect - Pour the paint onto your flat palette surface , dip the brush into paint and using a long brush stroke onto the page in a desired pattern.

Stamping - Pour paint onto palette. Dip a cosmetic sponge, or paint onto stamp directly. Next, sponge onto a decorative stamp, covering the entire surface. Immediately stamp onto surface. Repeat as needed to create your desired effect and/or design.

As you try many different types of stamping, painting, doodling, sponging, and stenciling, don't be afraid to create you own technique. These very creative and personal effects will give your pe project a WOW effect. Very nice.

Thank you and have fun creating.

SWEET 16
WOW! Remember those days. I wish I had had a book to journal all of my memories from my 16th birthday. Well, that is just what this book is for. There is so much room for precious photos and journaling throughout the book. I just loved creating and designing this acrylic book. It measures 8x8 and is 12 pages total.
This book is one of the first I had done in acrylic. I was doing all kinds of hand doodling, rubons and anything that would add dimension. It came out wonderfully.
As far as techniques, machine stitching throughout, painting, hand doodling and stamping. Some of the flourishes I mixed with hand doodling, just for fun.
I loved creating this little book and I have just listed it on ebay for sale. The book and colors, pinks, lime and white are beautiful together and I used mostly Heidi Grace paper.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and leave me a comment now and then. It is nice to know who reads it.
Thanks,
Sandra
